India's Gladiator Vaibhav Suryavanshi Stakes Claim For The Senior Team After Scoring A Brilliant Century In The Under-19 World Cup.

Vaibhav scored a stormy century.

Abhishek Tripathi, Jagran Mumbai. When a cute boy born in the small town of Samastipur in Bihar goes inside the cricket stadium with a bat in his hand, it seems as if the dreaded gladiator of the Roman Empire is entering the arena of Rome.

He looks like a gladiator from the Roman Empire who never fails to show off his weapon skills to entertain the audience. Yes, we are talking about Under-19 World Cup hero Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose 175 runs in 80 balls helped India win the World Cup for the sixth time.

For a few years, the name of Bihar was removed from the map of Indian cricket, but as soon as BCCI recognized Bihar Cricket Association, Vaibhav also emerged and this left-handed batsman made that name shine on the world stage. Questions were raised many times regarding Vaibhav's age but he did not waver or bow down. He continued to progress by performing brilliantly in age group competitions for Bihar.

When Rajasthan Royals signed him last season, he became the first player at the age of 14 to play for an IPL team. When he got a chance to play after Sanju Samson was injured, he batted so well in the very first match that everyone became his fan. After this, he also scored a century in 38 balls in the same season. That was one of the fastest centuries in the history of the tournament.

This experience not only improved his shot selection but also improved his ability to understand the bowlers. He became stronger for pressure situations which was reflected in Zimbabwe. Suryavanshi, who used to look calm, has now become ruthless and experienced who controls the pace of the game at his whim. He showed his sight to the whole world in the final of the Under-19 ODI World Cup.

By scoring three figures in just 55 balls against England in Harare, he laid the foundation for one of the highest scores ever in the final of this tournament. What he did in Harare was breathtaking. Suryavanshi sent the balls out of the boundary 15 times in just 80 balls without being tipped. Thanks to him, India scored 411 runs while playing first. It was a score that effectively knocked England out of the contest before even getting to bat.

This innings of Suryavanshi was a mixture of fearless, powerful and smart play. Vaibhav converted a good start into a big advantage here. He finished the Under-19 World Cup with 30 sixes. He became the player to hit most sixes in Under-19 World Cup history. He left behind the previous record of 18 sixes made in 2022. His ability to consistently dominate the bowlers makes him the best batsman in this competition. This innings has opened the way for him to enter senior cricket also.

India won the sixth title with the historic innings of Suryavanshi.

Cricket's new star Vaibhav Suryavanshi played one of the most spectacular innings in the history of the Under-19 ODI World Cup, leading India to a huge 100-run victory in the final against England and winning a record sixth title. India had earlier won the title in 2022. Suryavanshi played a stormy innings of 175 runs in 80 balls. Thanks to his innings, India, batting first, scored 411 runs for nine wickets.

Chasing a huge target of 412 runs, the England team was all out for 311 runs in 40.2 overs. For England, Caleb Falconer played a brilliant inning of 115 runs in 67 balls. 14 year old Suryavanshi scored the second fastest century of this tournament by completing his century in just 55 balls. This innings is also the highest individual score so far in the Under-19 World Cup final.

After crossing 400 runs, India became a strong contender for victory and the bowlers also performed collectively to ensure the victory. This team, under the leadership of captain Ayush Mhatre, has created a distinct identity due to its aggression and strong play, in which Suryavanshi proved to be the biggest strength. After Suryavanshi's dismissal, Abhigyan Kundu (40), Vedant Trivedi (32), Vihaan Malhotra (30) and Kanishk Chauhan (37) made useful contributions. Although England tried to make a slight comeback, India did not let them dominate the match.
