More than 800 artistes will come together to perform in solo dance performances in what organizers describe as 'the largest gathering of Indian classical and folk dance styles'. PM Modi will reach Kuala Lumpur on Saturday afternoon and address the migrants in the evening.

The massive dance performance to welcome Modi will take place at the 'Selamat Datang Modi Ji' community welcome ceremony, where Prime Minister Modi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will address an expected crowd of around 15,000 people.

More than 800 artists will perform grand dance

Indian High Commissioner BN Reddy said Malaysia has the world's second largest Indian-origin community and also the third largest Indian expatriate community. He said that the slogan of the program 'Selamat Datang Modi Ji' means 'Welcome Modi Ji' which reflects the warmth and unity of this community.

The dance will last approximately five minutes and will include a vibrant mix of Indian dance traditions, such as Bharatnatyam, Odissi, Kathak, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam and Kuchipudi, as well as folk styles such as Yakshagana, Lavani, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Odia, Bihu, Tamil folk and many other regional variations.

There will be bilateral talks on defense and trade cooperation

According to ANI, the Ministry of External Affairs said that India is exploring opportunities for cooperation in the defense sector during the upcoming visit, including the sale of Darnier aircraft, maintenance of Scorpene submarines and Su-30 aircraft.

During this visit, PM Modi will also interact with the Indian diaspora and other business representatives in Malaysia. Malaysia is an important partner for India in ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific region and a key pillar of India's Act East policy.

This is PM Modi's third visit to Malaysia and the first after upgrading bilateral ties to a 'comprehensive strategic partnership' in August 2024.
