Stepping up the crackdown against organized crime, a dedicated MCOCA cell was set up in the Crime Branch, which is working in coordination with central agencies to arrest 32 fugitives hiding abroad. In this series, in the year 2025, two notorious criminals were extradited from abroad and brought to India. Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said these things during a function organized at the police headquarters.
He said, security of the national capital is a national responsibility directly linked to the internal security of the country. In fulfilling this challenging responsibility, Delhi Police is getting new strength due to the clear guidance and continuous support of the Home Ministry. Keeping in mind the changes in the nature of crime with changing times, Delhi Police is moving forward with full commitment towards technology-based, transparent and public participation-based smart policing.
On the occasion he also unveiled a 32 feet high 3D portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which has been installed on the outer glass wall of the headquarters. Senior officials and a large number of police officers were present at the unveiling ceremony. The Police Commissioner said that this huge portrait of Sardar Patel is a symbol of the unity, determination and national integrity of the country, which will continue to inspire every policeman towards his duty.
Action against drugs, 6144 kg of drugs seized
Highlighting the major achievements of Delhi Police under the Drug Free India campaign, the Police Commissioner said that last year, 6144 kg of drugs were seized while taking decisive action against drugs. To break the economic structure of drug trafficking, 44 properties were seized and for the first time, 29 properties were demolished under the legal process.
Big action on cyber racket also
He said that cyber crime has become one of the biggest challenges facing the country today. To deal with this, Delhi Police has adopted new strategies through modern technology and special teams. In the month of May last year, a system of automatic registration of FIR on complaints of financial cyber fraud of more than Rs 10 lakh was implemented, which was reduced to Rs 1 lakh in November. In the last three months, 18,000 suspects were caught, 3,000 were arrested or booked and 1,000 new cases were registered in the three phases of Operation Cyhawk, which dealt a devastating blow to the networks of cyber criminals.
Decline in PCR calls related to street crime
The Police Commissioner said that the decisive action taken against organized crime, drug trafficking and counterfeit currency gangs has directly benefited the law and order situation of the capital and the safety of common citizens. In the last one year, 83 policemen were injured while on duty, but due to their courage and devotion to duty, there has been a significant decline in crime figures in Delhi.
In comparison to the year 2024, there has been a decrease of 8 percent in heinous crimes in 2025, 12 percent in robbery, 17 percent in snatching, 26 percent in burglary and 7 percent in extortion. There has also been a steady decline in PCR calls related to vehicle theft and street crime.
