Jagran correspondent, Rudrapur. Cyber thugs defrauded a Haldwani resident of Rs 37.85 lakh in the name of earning profit in share trading. In this case, the victim has submitted a complaint to the cyber police station and demanded action. Police have registered the FIR and started investigation.
The person, originally resident of Naugaon Sadat Amroha Uttar Pradesh and Hal Haldwani Nainital, told that on November 2, 2025, he came across a link on his Facebook ID regarding Share Diagnostic Report on IRFC. When he clicked on the link, a message came on his WhatsApp number. In which DP of a woman named Siya Verma was posted. Who asked to join a group by sending WhatsApp group chat invite link.
When he did not join the group, he continued to personally talk about share trading and profit and loss on WhatsApp. Later he joined the group. Whose administrator was Siya Verma and Professor Ramdev and others. In the group, Professor Ramdev used to talk about his share tips and increasing share profits. Other people associated with the group also shared screen shots of their trading.
During this time, Kavya Mehta, a woman associated with the group, talked to them on WhatsApp number and praised Sia and Ramdev. On January 9, 2026, Siya Verma sent an application form to Motilal Oswal Financial Services. Also, Siya Verma made him join DMA Customer Service Group. Got downloaded by sending MOPIP link on January 9, 2026. After this Siya Verma told the shares to trade and asked to deposit the money.
Following his words, he deposited Rs 6.30 lakh on January 22, 2026, Rs 1.55 lakh on February 2 and Rs 30 lakh on February 6. The benefits of which were visible in his application. Meanwhile, he demanded money from him to buy another IPO. When he expressed his inability, they stopped contacting him. On this he felt cheated. Cyber police station in-charge Arun Kumar said that based on the complaint of the victim, an FIR has been registered against unknown persons. Investigation is being done. After this necessary action will be taken.
