Danger on Bhagalpur-Mandar Hill railway section.
Rajoun Sansu, Rajoun (Banka). A major train accident was almost averted on Bhagalpur-Mandar Hill railway section near Sanjha railway halt on Friday evening. Due to the opening of the pendulum clip of the railway track, the track had become abnormally crooked. An alert villager noticed this in time and due to his promptness, information could be given to the railway administration, due to which a possible accident was averted.
At the time of the incident, the villagers were returning to their village through the crossing located in front of Sanjha railway halt. Meanwhile, a villager riding a bike noticed that the railway track was not normal and appeared crooked. On closer inspection, it was found that the pendulum clip of the track was open, which could have caused a serious accident if the train passed. The villager without any delay called Dhoni Railway Station Master Santosh Bhagat and informed him about this.
At the same time, Deoghar-Jamalpur passenger train was standing at Sanjha railway halt and was about to leave for Bhagalpur within some time. As soon as the information was received, the station master showed promptness and informed the loco pilot about the danger. After this, the train was stopped there and the railway personnel checked the track and started the repair work. Due to timely action, a major railway accident was averted, due to which passengers and local people heaved a sigh of relief.
According to local people, the pendul clip had opened due to the continuous movement of tractors and other heavy vehicles. Villagers said that due to absence of railway gates at many places in this area, there is a possibility of such incidents. There are no permanent railway gates at busy places like Odhara Mod, Morama Mod, Sanjha Railway Halt and Anandpur Mod, even though hundreds of people and vehicles pass through these routes every day.
Local resident Kundan Kumar said that due to lack of railway gate, there is always fear while crossing the railway line. Pramod Singh said that now many express trains have also started running on this route, due to which the danger has increased further. He demanded installation of railway gates at all major crossings. Hem Shankar Kumar said that drivers face a lot of trouble in crossing the line and sometimes accidents also occur. Subodh Kumar said that due to the digging of the road by the Railway Department, villagers sometimes have to face huge difficulties in commuting to their villages.
In this regard, Dhoni Railway Station Master Santosh Bhagat said that after the repair of the track, rail operations have been started normally. He said that information about the matter has been given to the concerned authorities.
The villagers have demanded from the railway administration that in view of the increasing number of trains and public safety, permanent railway gates should be installed at all sensitive places as soon as possible, so that any major accident can be avoided in future.
