Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. The court of Judicial Magistrate I Bhavana Pandey has convicted the accused in the check bounce case and sentenced him to one year simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 11 lakh.
Complainant Rajeev Sharma, resident of Karanpur, told that the accused Junaid Hasan, resident of Kandoli, had to give him the money. For this, the accused gave a check of Rs 9 lakh on June 10, 2018.
It was assured that the amount would be paid through cheque. On August 24, 2018, when he deposited a check in the bank, it bounced due to low balance.
He sent a notice to the accused through his advocate, but despite serving the notice, he did not return the amount.
The court on Tuesday found the accused Junaid Hasan guilty and sentenced him to one year simple imprisonment and fined Rs 11 lakh.
Junaid Hasan will pay Rs 10.95 lakh as compensation out of the fine amount, while the remaining amount will be deposited in the account of the state government.
