Delhi government is bringing electric vehicles policy.

State Bureau, New Delhi. The BJP government of Delhi is bringing a new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy, in which it is being considered to give subsidy to electric vehicles on a large scale. It is believed that after the implementation of this policy, the difference in the price of electric vehicles and diesel petrol vehicles will be very less. This electric policy is expected to provide major benefits in Delhi becoming the capital of electric vehicles.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has made it clear that the process will be completed soon and it will be implemented in the next financial year. He has said that this policy has to be made so simple and public friendly that it becomes the first choice of every Delhiite.

Subsidy to bridge the price gap

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has clarified that under the future policy, the primary focus of the government is on EV-led financial incentives. The government will provide adequate subsidy to reduce the huge difference between the prices of petrol-diesel (ICE) vehicles and electric vehicles. Apart from this, the Delhi government has already abolished road tax and registration fees for buying an EV vehicle, which will make buying a new vehicle much cheaper.

The government will give incentives on 'scrapping' for old vehicles. The government has told vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) that they will coordinate as per the demand. Manufacturers have been asked to ensure timely supply of vehicles as per market demand. Companies have been cautioned to keep the cost of vehicles reasonable.

Charging stations even in residential colonies

Delhi government is emphasizing on 'single window' facility and network expansion regarding the infrastructure of EV policy. Under this, public charging points will be installed near major public places as well as residential colonies. Also, facilities for scientific disposal of old batteries and battery swapping will be developed, so that there is no need to wait long for charging.

To make the EV policy completely flawless, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has constituted a high-level Cabinet Committee under the chairmanship of Energy and Education Minister Ashish Sood. This committee, formed about four months ago, has held several meetings so far. Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh has said that since the formation of our government, the pace of adoption of EV among the people of Delhi has increased, Delhi has intensified the fight against pollution, because in the last 10 months, more than one lakh EV vehicles have been registered, whereas in the previous government, 80 thousand registrations were done in the last year. The BJP government will also release the outstanding subsidy on electric vehicles purchased during the previous AAP government. More than Rs 45 crore subsidy from the previous government is outstanding.
