State Bureau, New Delhi. In view of increasing air pollution and cold, the Delhi government has instructed all Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), residential societies and private and public establishments of the capital to arrange heaters for their employees.

This step has been taken to prevent employees associated with security, sanitation, gardening and other services from burning biofuel and garbage during winter. An order issued by the Environment and Forest Department on Wednesday said that all RWAs, residential societies and private and public establishments in Delhi should provide electric heaters or other approved fuels to their employees to prevent burning of leaves, solid waste, wood, plastic or rubber during winter.

It has been clarified in the order that strict action will be taken against those violating the instructions under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. The department has directed the Revenue Department to ensure strict compliance of the relevant order in the entire city.
