On Tuesday, Rashtriya Bajrang Dal officials and workers staged a protest over the carcasses of cows at Saxena Chowk in the city, alleging disorder in cow sheds and death of cows. During this, the officials raised their voice demanding action against the responsible officers and employees.
Despite much coaxing from the police, the workers remained adamant on their insistence. During this period, there was a traffic jam at Saxena Chowk for about one and a half hours. The officials handed over the memorandum to Additional Superintendent of Police Siddharth who reached the spot. After this, the matter calmed down on the assurance of ASP.
Under the leadership of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal convenor Harishankar Pratap Kushwaha, Rashtriya Bajrang Dal District President Vishal Pushkar, District Co-Convenor Rahul Paswan and State Security Chief Vivek Srivastava, a large number of workers reached Chehri and Ahmedpur Hadhawan Gaushala of Sadar area and protested against the poor condition there.
After inspection of the cow sheds, the angry workers placed the carcasses of the cows on a tarpaulin and reached Saxena Chowk of the city at around 4:15 pm. There they placed the skeletons on the road and sat on strike. Traffic at the intersection was disrupted due to the demonstration. As soon as the information was received, a large number of police forces reached the spot.
Sadar Kotwal Nirbhay Kumar Singh tried to convince the protesters, but did not succeed. Later, Additional Superintendent of Police Siddharth reached the spot and talked to the protesters. After which the demonstration ended at around 5:35 pm and traffic was restored.
In a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, Rashtriya Bajrang Dal District President Vishal Pushkar said that the condition of other cow shelters in the district including Chehri and Ahmedpur Hadhawan cow shelters is extremely worrying. There is a lack of adequate fodder, water and medical facilities, due to which many cattle have died of hunger and disease.
He demanded an investigation of all the cow sheds, ensuring proper arrangements for fodder, water and treatment and strict action against the guilty officers and employees.
Many workers including District Cow Protection Chief Rahul Gupta, District Milan Chief Shiva Patel, Rajkumar Rai, Pintu Yadav, Pintu Pandey, Rahul Pandey, Harendra Arya, Chandeshwar and Balram Gupta were present in the demonstration.
