Strict action will be taken against vehicle owners who violate the orders issued regarding parking.
Jagran correspondent, Chandigarh. Strict rules have been issued regarding parking in the smart city. There is a ban on parking of vehicles in Municipal Corporation parking from 12 midnight to 6 am. In this regard, orders have been issued by Corporation Commissioner IAS Amit Kumar.
This decision has been taken because some people park their vehicles in the parking lot at night and do not come to collect them till the morning. The new order will be applicable to all paid parking sites as well as marked free parking sites falling under the jurisdiction of the corporation.
The move is aimed at streamlining the parking system in the city and curbing illegal encroachments. The order also clarifies that parking of vehicles at any time on Municipal Corporation land, including open grounds, green belts, road berms and power block areas, is completely prohibited.
Only those spaces will be valid for parking, which have been duly marked and notified. Strict action will be taken against vehicle owners violating the order. Under the rules, the action of issuing challan, clamping the vehicle and removing the vehicle by towing it at the risk and expense of the owner will be done without any prior notice.
However, vehicles associated with emergency services and vehicles duly authorized by the Municipal Corporation will be given exemption as per rules. The Municipal Corporation has appealed to the city residents to strictly follow the instructions issued and cooperate in maintaining a disciplined and well-organized parking system in the city.
