After that, the political equations changed and in the year 1999, he had to face defeat in the Lok Sabha elections from Deepak Kumar of SP and in the year 2004, he had to face defeat in the Lok Sabha elections from Brajesh Pathak of BSP.

Former Prime Minister Late. He considered Atal Bihari Vajpayee as his political guru. According to relatives, once while going to a public meeting in Kanpur Phulbagh, Late. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had come to Shuklaganj and took Devi Baksh with him in his car.

He also went to Rashtrapati Bhavan with his sons Mahavir and Udayveer and met former President Ramnath Kovind. Among the top leaders of BJP, Murli was very close to Manohar Joshi, Lal Krishna Advani, Rajnath Singh and Ashok Singhal of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Movement etc.

The relative told that this top leader has come to his home in Shuklaganj to meet him. A crowd gathered at the residence of the former MP to pay tribute.

Devipal Singh, the youngest brother of the late MP, told that his wife's name was Kamla Devi. He passed away about 10 years ago. Elder son Mahavir Singh died on December 5, 2025 due to kidney disease.

The younger son is Udayveer Singh and the married daughters are Kiran Singh and Seema Singh. He told that among the three brothers, Durga Baksh Singh was elder than Devi Baksh Singh. He has passed away. .

Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium was constructed

Suryakumar Bajpai, who was the personal advisor of the late MP, said that during his tenure in the year 1995-96, he had constructed the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium on Rajdhani Marg for the players of the city at a cost of about Rs 20 lakh.
