Digital Desk, New Delhi. Rejecting concerns raised by India over "atrocities" against minorities in Bangladesh, Dhaka on Sunday termed it as a "false, exaggerated or fabricated narrative" which does not reflect the facts.
It is noteworthy that India's Foreign Ministry had said on Friday that the ongoing "persistent violence" against minorities in Bangladesh is a matter of "serious concern". The ministry demanded punishment of the culprits who thrashed a Hindu youth to death in Mymensingh area last week.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said, "The ongoing violence by extremists against minorities including Hindus, Christians and Buddhists in Bangladesh is a matter of grave concern."
Responding to Jaiswal's comments, Bangladesh Foreign Ministry spokesperson SM Mahbubul Alam said, "The Government of Bangladesh categorically rejects any false, exaggerated or fabricated statements that misrepresent Bangladesh's long-standing tradition of communal harmony."
