Jagran correspondent, Patna. A 61-year-old woman, who had come to catch a flight to Mumbai on Sunday evening, suddenly fell unconscious at Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan International Airport.
The relative requested for immediate medical help. CISF jawans called a doctor and got the passenger tested. The doctor gave CPR along with first aid and after this the woman was sent by ambulance to Paras HMRI Hospital.
However, the woman died before reaching the hospital. The woman was identified as Nirmal Devi, wife of Chandrashekhar Sahni, resident of Sahebpur, Begusarai.
According to the airport authority, at around 4.40 pm on Sunday evening, a female passenger of SpiceJet flight number SG-337 (Patna-Mumbai) fell unconscious near the CISF shift in-charge cubicle in the security hold area. Immediately the doctor present nearby was called.
CPR was given along with first aid. Meanwhile, the incident was informed to the Airport Fire Service. When the ambulance arrived around 4.50 pm, the woman was taken to Paras HMRI Hospital. There was no improvement in the passenger's condition even during treatment. Fire crews confirmed the death of the female passenger at 5.13pm.
Meanwhile, Anil Kumar, director of Paras HMRI, said that the woman had died before reaching the hospital. In such a situation, he was not tested. It is difficult to say anything clear about the causes of sudden unconsciousness and death, but severe heart attack can be the cause of death.
It is noteworthy that earlier, in case of medical emergency, a medical team from a private hospital was deployed at the airport for quick treatment, but due to non-renewal of contract, there is no permanent arrangement for emergency medical facility at the airport for a long time.
