State Bureau, Chandigarh. Jannayak Janata Party Youth Wing President Digvijay Chautala has reached the High Court against the Haryana government's decision to withdraw his security. The security of Digvijay Chautala, grandson of former Chief Minister Omprakash Chautala and great-grandson of former Deputy Prime Minister Tau Devi Lal, was withdrawn last week.
While disposing of the petition of Digvijay Chautala, the High Court has given clear instructions to the Haryana Government that the safety of life and property of Digvijay and his family should be ensured at all costs. This order was passed by Justice Sanjay Vashishtha.
On behalf of petitioner Digvijay Chautala, the court was told that he had received serious threats from the Bishnoi gang. On the basis of these threats, an FIR was lodged at Dabwali police station on 30 July 2025. Despite this, the present Director General of Police of the State withdrew the security of the petitioner on 10 December 2025 without any concrete reason or written explanation, which is not only an arbitrary step but also amounts to ignoring the potential threat.
Digvijay Chautala also drew the court's attention to the fact that the DGP's alleged adversarial attitude towards the Chautala family is also reflected in one of his internal communications, which was published in the media platform on December 11. It was argued that removal of security in such an environment could put the life of the petitioner and his family at serious risk.
Considering all the facts and circumstances, the High Court disposed of the petition of Digvijay Chautala, but also directed the Haryana Government to take the apprehensions expressed by the petitioner seriously and take necessary steps to ensure the safety of him and his family.
The court also indicated that the state has an obligation to impartially review the threats faced by any citizen and provide appropriate security arrangements. Let us tell you that on the day Digvijay Chautala's security was withdrawn, the security of four other JJP leaders was withdrawn.
These leaders include former ADGP Paramjit Singh Ahlawat, father-in-law of former Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, famous singer Rahul Fazilpuriya, who contested the Lok Sabha elections from Gurugram, Vinesh Gurjar, who contested the elections from Sohna, and JJP leader Devendra Kadian. When this became a political issue after the withdrawal of security of five JJP leaders, the Director General of Police clarified the next day that the security of about 200 people in the entire state who do not need it has been withdrawn.
