Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. Chief District and Sessions Judge of Amreli, Gujarat, Rizwana Bukhari, who gave life imprisonment to three convicts involved in the crime of cow slaughter while giving a historic decision for the protection of cow progeny, reached Kashi on Friday.
Here he met Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and received his blessings. The commitment shown by Judge Rizwana Bukhari towards cow protection while giving his decision, describing the cow as sacred for Hindus and the basis of Indian culture and faith, is being appreciated across the country.
Judge Rizwana was welcomed in a traditional manner at Srividya Math. Swami Avimukteshwaranand while blessing him said that when someone sitting on the throne of justice takes a bold decision to protect the truth and religion, then he is worthy of respect for both the nation and the culture.
This step of Judge Rizwana will inspire other judges also. He described Judge Rizwana's work of cow service as virtuous and wished him a bright future.
Last November, Judge Rizwana Bukhari had convicted three accused Kasim, Sattar and Akram in a cow slaughter case under various sections of the Gujarat Animal Protection (Amendment) Act, 2017 and sentenced them to life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 18 lakh. This is the first case in Gujarat in which a court has sentenced life imprisonment to the culprits for the crime of cow slaughter.
