Aditya Raj, Gurugram. Real estate sector company DLF has proposed to build an elevated road from Sirhaul border to Cyber City near Shankar Chowk to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). From designing to construction of the elevated road, the company will also do it.

Only approval for construction is required from NHAI. NHAI has started considering DLF's proposal. With the construction of the elevated road, the traffic pressure from the border to Shankar Chowk will be reduced to a great extent. At present there is traffic pressure 24 hours a day. During peak hour, people cover the distance of 700 meters in more than half an hour.

There is heavy traffic pressure in many areas of Cyber City. Among these, the area from Sirhaul border to Shankar Chowk (the part of the service lane of Delhi-Gurugram Expressway from Sirhaul border to Shankar Chowk) is at the top. There is Ambience Mall near Sirhaul border, which is visited by thousands of people every day. Thousands of people work in cyber city.

On the other side of Shankar Chowk is an industrial area called Udyog Vihar, in which lakhs of people work. Due to this, vehicles keep crawling on the service lane of Delhi-Gurugram Expressway from Sirhaul border to Cyber City near Shankar Chowk. This is affecting the image of Cyber City.

The situation is such that people have started shying away from even going to Ambience Mall during peak hours. Due to traffic pressure, the attractiveness of Cyber City is decreasing day by day. In view of this, DLF has proposed to NHAI to build an elevated road. A copy of the proposal has also been sent to Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority.

In this regard, a senior NHAI official says that DLF's proposal is better. Feasibility will be seen at every level before giving permission to build an elevated road. A senior DLF official says that as soon as permission is received from NHAI, the estimate will be prepared and further work will be started expeditiously. Let us tell you that on an average three and a half lakh vehicles pass through Sirhaul border every day. More than half of these vehicles go to Cyber City and Udyog Vihar areas.

NHAI should give permission immediately

JS Suhag, former technical advisor of NHAI and retired Chief Engineer from Public Works Department, believes that the proposal of DLF should be accepted with immediate effect and permission for construction of elevated road should be given. Many major junctions of the city will become better. There is 24-hour traffic pressure on the service lane from Sirhaul border to Shankar Chowk.

This is tarnishing the image of the city because a large number of multinational companies are operating in the cyber city area. Along with this, NHAI should also work on the plan to elevate the expressway. Only by being elevated will the traffic pressure on the expressway be reduced.
