Jagran correspondent, Dhanbad. Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, who is often in discussion and controversies regarding his statements, was seen in a new role in Dhanbad on Wednesday. This time he appeared not as a minister but as a doctor. He handled the OPD of Dhanbad Sadar Hospital and examined many patients and also wrote prescriptions for medicines.

Actually, the state health minister has an MBBS degree. He reached Sadar Hospital at 1.45 pm on Wednesday afternoon. Here a stethoscope was ordered in the OPD and a patient admitted in the pediatrics department was examined. After this, Zahida Khatoon, a woman from Jogta (Katras), was called, who complained of fever and cold.Dr. Irfan Ansari advised him to prevent cold and prescribed medicines. After this, medical advice was also given to 15 year old Shivam. Elderly Zubaida was brought to the OPD in a wheelchair, but he was treated by other doctors present there. After consulting four patients, the Health Minister came out of the OPD. Civil Surgeon Dr. Alok Vishwakarma and other officers were present with him. Earlier, the Minister reached the newly constructed Malnutrition Treatment Centre, where he provided Ayushman kits to the admitted children.

Medical college will be built in the name of Shibu Soren

During this the Health Minister made a big announcement. He said that a medical college will be constructed in the Dhanbad Sadar Hospital premises within three years. This will be the second medical college of Dhanbad, which will be built in the name of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren. He said that the building of the already operating Shaheed Nirmal Mahato Medical College Hospital is quite old, which will soon be demolished and a new building will be constructed.

Action will be taken on irregularities in Ayushman scheme

The minister said that under the guise of Ayushman scheme, some private hospitals are providing treatment by opening two-room hospitals. For this reason the government has stopped payment to such hospitals. The investigation into the case is ongoing and further action will be taken against the culprits. He said that it has been 25 years since the state was formed, but the Medical Council had not been formed till now. Due to non-appointment of Registrar, examinations could not be conducted on time. Formation of Medical Council will help in removing the shortage of doctors. Continuous efforts are being made towards making Dhanbad a medical hub.

SOP being made for medical students

The Health Minister said that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is being prepared for the students studying in the medical colleges of the state. Under this, the students who complete their studies from the medical college will have to serve the state for at least five years. He told SNMMCH Principal cum Superintendent Dr. D.K. Asked Gindauria about the dean's position. On getting positive response, he said that even if a student turns 19, he should be passed. Students reach here through hard work. He also gave advice to the students like a parent.

Launch of new equipment in SNMMCH

At SNMMCH, the Minister inaugurated the new C-arm machine, anesthesia station and supporting equipment for laparoscopic surgery in the Orthopedics department. He honored Dr. Rajesh Kumar of Neuro Department, Dr. Ali Zaid of Oncology, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor Verma and Nodal Officer Dr. Ravi Bhushan for their good work in the Super Specialty Hospital. After this, the Minister inspected various wards and held a review meeting with the college management. Appreciated on many points, and expressed displeasure in some cases. Senior Hospital Manager Dr. C.S. accompanied the Principal on the spot. Suman, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, Dr. Dharmendra Kumar, Dr. Vineet P. Tigga and others were present.
