Communication partner, Mahendragarh. The municipality has taken concrete steps to get rid of the ever increasing problem of stray dogs in the city. The dog shelter home will be prepared by the municipality at a cost of approximately Rs seven lakh. For this, tender has been allotted to the agency and the work is likely to start soon.
The municipal administration has also recently issued a work order to catch 350 stray dogs. This action will be taken in a phased manner, so that effective control can be achieved on the problem spread in different wards of the city. The captured dogs will be kept in a shelter home as per rules, where arrangements for their vaccination, sterilization and care will be made.
Complaints are being received continuously
Municipality head Ramesh Saini said that complaints were being received from city residents about incidents of stray dogs scaring and biting children and elderly people. Taking these complaints seriously, the municipality has taken this decision.

He said that after the construction of the shelter home, the dogs will be kept in an organized manner and their treatment and sterilization process will be done under the supervision of veterinarians.
He said that the objective of the municipality is not just to catch dogs, but to provide a permanent solution to the problem in a humane manner. Along with this, an appeal has also been made to the city residents not to throw garbage in the open, because this increases the number of stray animals.
Regular monitoring will be done
According to municipal officials, regular monitoring will be done on the construction of the shelter home and the process of capturing the dogs. The municipality claims that this campaign will significantly reduce the problem of stray dogs in the city in the coming time and will provide relief to the people.
The residents of the city say that even after issuing a tender to catch the monkeys, the monkeys were caught only for one day. When Pradhan was discussed about this, he told that soon monkeys will also be caught from the city.
