Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. To make the city garbage free, the Municipal Corporation had started the Clean, Healthy and Prosperous program in 2017. Under this, door-to-door garbage collection campaign was started to collect garbage from people's homes.
It was to be made successful in all the wards of the city within two years. This plan did not come to fruition. Due to the indifference of the corporation, she got lost midway. At the same time, the wards where door-to-door garbage collection was done under this scheme have now been stopped.
Even today people wait for the arrival of the corporation vehicle, but their wait is not over. This was not taken seriously by the city government and municipal administration. Due to this, it could not be implemented in all areas of the city. If this campaign is implemented properly then our city will shine.
The agencies involved in the plan disappeared midway.
The corporation failed in door-to-door garbage collection from all the wards of the city. Just one year after the launch of the scheme, the Center for Science and Environment (CSE) and the Indian Tobacco Company (ITC), the organizations that claimed to make it 100% successful in two years, disappeared midway. Under the scheme, 80 thousand dustbins were distributed in all the wards of the city.
40 thousand families were given two green and blue dustbins each. City residents were encouraged to deposit wet waste in one and dry waste in the other. People started doing this, but the corporation workers were not able to collect the segregated waste from people's homes. The corporation could not provide dustbins to the remaining 20 thousand families.
Any problem should be solved quickly
Anand Nagar resident Kumar Purendra said that if the city is to be brightened then any problem should be resolved quickly. People are troubled by the plight of Gobarsahi-Dumri road. The main road remains filled with drain water throughout the year. This causes difficulty in movement. Due to water logging, potholes are also increasing on the road, due to which the risk of accidents has increased further. The administration should take immediate action to provide relief to people from this problem. Construction of roads and drains is taking time, hence they should be repaired immediately.
By running the campaign to make Muzaffarpur shine, Dainik Jagran is highlighting the problems of the city so that it can be conveyed to the concerned department. If you also want to join this campaign of Dainik Jagran, then share those problems which, if removed, will make the city shine. Dainik Jargan will publish your suggestion.
After waking up the people, the corporation itself fell asleep. The corporation's sweepers did not come to collect garbage from people's homes. Due to this the plan could not succeed. If the plan had been successful, the city would have been in a blaze of glory. -Dheeraj Kumar
The corporation officials were not successful in making better use of human resources and equipment. Only if the door-to-door garbage collection scheme is implemented in the entire city, Muzaffarpur will be transformed. -Rajesh Kumar Arya
To make the city garbage free, work is going on under the Cities-2.0 scheme. Door-to-door garbage collection is being done in the streets and neighborhoods of the city. In the board meeting, the officials were given the task of implementing it in all the wards of the city. I will review it and talk to the officials to ensure that the work gets done quickly. -Nirmala Devi, Mayor
