Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. The roads across Yamuna in Delhi are being used less for vehicular traffic and more for dumping debris. Most of the roads have become debris landfills. The public representatives in power know the truth very well, but are trying to cover up the eyes of the people.

At the same time, they claim that they will make the roads debris free, but this does not seem to be happening. On Thursday, the meeting of Eastern District Development Committee was held in the DM office of Eastern District. In the meeting, departments were seen blaming each other for the debris problem. Due to this, the problem could not be solved. Other issues of encroachment and development were also raised in the meeting. Nodal officers of many departments including PWD, Police, Irrigation Department, Delhi Jal Board attended the meeting. There were some officers who were not Nadal officers and had come to attend the meeting, they were stopped at the office gate itself.

The meeting started with the issue of action against those throwing debris on the roads across Yamuna. The corporation official present in the meeting said that the roads on which debris is being dumped belong to PWD. The corporation is collecting debris from the roads daily. When the corporation official was asked in the meeting how dumping of debris on the roads would be stopped. No answer could be found to this.

Debris site made without permission: PWD

The nodal officer of PWD said that people are dumping the debris due to the corporation's shortcomings. The corporation has made its roads an authorized debris site without the permission of PWD. PWD has also written a letter to the corporation and registered its objection. It is the responsibility of the corporation to ensure that debris is not dumped.

The corporation has a C&D (Construction and Demolition) plant in Shastri Park for the debris in Yamunapar. Even after that the roads have remained debris sites. Public representatives and officials including Chairman Ravikant Ujjainwal, DM Amol Srivastava, MLA Sanjay Goyal and MCD Zone Chairman Ramkishore Sharma were present in the meeting.

The debris is being dumped on the banks after digging up the streets and roads.

Coming out of the development committee meeting, the correspondent investigated the reality of this claim. The corporation is constructing many streets and roads. According to the order of the Supreme Court, the roads are being dug up and rebuilt.

At the same time, during investigation, it was found that the debris of the dug roads was lying on the roadside near Karkadi Mor, Hasanpur Depot, Telco Point. Whereas in the meeting the officer had said that common people put it. It is clearly evident that the contractors who are constructing the streets and roads under the supervision of the corporation officials are pulling dust in the eyes of the officials.
