State Bureau, Ranchi. The court of POCSO Special Judge Virendra Kumar Srivastava has sentenced accused Arvind Hembram to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in the case of rape of a minor. The accused is a resident of Bhadwajara of Petarwar police station area of Bokaro.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 35 thousand on him. In case of not paying the fine, he will have to face additional nine months' imprisonment. According to the FIR lodged at Sadar police station, the incident took place on 24 February 2021 near a bridge on Ring Road. The accused lured the minor and took her under the bridge and forced her to do so.
During the hearing of the case, statements of six witnesses were recorded from the prosecution side, while one witness was presented from the defense side. The court has directed to give the fine amount to the victim for medical treatment and rehabilitation. The court has asked Dalsa to consider giving additional compensation under the Jharkhand Victim Compensation Scheme-2019.
Three years imprisonment to the accused in the case of molesting a girl
State Bureau, Ranchi. The court has sentenced the accused Laxman Sharma to three years of rigorous imprisonment in the case of molesting a five-year-old girl. The court has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
The accused in the case remained continuously absent from the court. To ensure his presence, the court had issued an arrest warrant and notices were sent several times to Jagannathpur and Pundag police stations to ensure his presence. The court also sought clarification from the police, but neither the accused was arrested nor a satisfactory answer was given.
After this, the court convicted the accused and sentenced him in his absence. The incident took place on 13 December 2018 in the newly constructed house of Moin Ansari. An FIR was registered in Jagannathpur police station on the statement of the girl's father.
The accused was arrested on the day of the incident and sent to jail, who got bail on 23 April 2019. After being released on bail, the accused did not appear in the court. During the hearing of the case, statements of three witnesses were recorded by the prosecution, on the basis of which the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him.
