Visibility dropped to zero in many areas this morning, affecting everything from roads to air traffic. The biggest impact of this weather disaster has been on Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
Giving priority to the safety of passengers, the airport management has canceled 66 arrival (arrival) and 63 departure (departure) flights for today. The travel plans of thousands of passengers have been affected due to the cancellation of a total of 129 flights. Many flights are diverted or delayed.
According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is likely to persist for the next few days. Passengers are appealed to check flight status and undertake essential journeys only.
The situation of air pollution remained serious in the national capital Delhi on Saturday morning. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and IMD, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded above 300 in almost all areas of the capital, which directly falls in the 'very poor' to 'severe' category.
The situation was worst in areas like Vivek Vihar (435), Anand Vihar (434) and ITO (437) of East Delhi. At the same time, the air was not fit for breathing in Rohini (421), Wazirpur (424), Jahangirpuri (428) and Punjabi Bagh (417) of North and West Delhi.
Very low visibility in Delhi due to fog
Visibility was very low recorded in Delhi till 10 am. The minimum visibility recorded in Safdarjung was only 200 meters, while in Palam area it was 350 meters. Road, rail and air traffic is likely to be affected due to low visibility, so people are advised to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel.
