Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has made strong efforts to complete the work of Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway by March 2026.
NHAI had sent a letter to the PMO office in December 2025 that the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway would be ready in the first week of March. Then the expressway can be opened to the general public any day. NHAI will be able to fulfill the promise by the first week of March, but many teams have been deployed to complete the work under any circumstances till the last week of March 2026.
Work by fixing the target
Along with shifting the transmission line, the work of laying slabs on the elevated road has been started. The aim is that not even a single day is wasted, work is being done by fixing the target for every day. Regular monitoring has been increased. The special thing is that whatever issues are related to the disputes of local people, instructions have been given to resolve them in the month of January itself.
Green field was ready several months ago
63 km of Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway. The green field was completed several months ago. The work here was done very fast because there is no population here. There was no problem in building anyone's house or drain. Whereas from Sarojininagar to Pradhan Dhaba of Bani, NHAI had to face many local problems. The executing agency showed some laxity.
Two project directors changed
During the work of Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, two project directors have changed. At present the work of the expressway is being looked after by the newly appointed project director Nakul Prakash Verma and the old team of the authority. NHAI officials have started the work of making an iron net before casting concrete at the place over which the transmission line is to pass. Here, after laying the slab, there was no need to wait long for placing the girder.
Let us tell you that the work of shifting the transmission line has started from January 6 and the work is expected to continue till January 26. During this time, emphasis is being laid on getting iron netting, barricading and all small works done on the elevated road by the executing agency. Authority officials want that the finishing should also continue simultaneously. There should be no work left on the expressway till the first week of March 2026. The work of many teams has been divided and every second and third day the progress of the work is being reviewed.
