Jagran correspondent, Jaipur. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached 37 immovable properties worth Rs 1986.48 crore in Ludhiana in Punjab and Jaipur in Rajasthan. This action was taken under the rules of PMLA in connection with the investigation of financial irregularities related to the collective investment scheme run by M/s Agrotech Corporation Limited and its associated companies.

Lakhs of investors in the country were defrauded of more than Rs 60 thousand crore by the company under the guise of sale and development of agricultural land. CBI had registered a case in this regard in Delhi in 2014.

Company owner Nirmal Singh Bhangu had cheated people by luring them into his trap. He hired hundreds of employees to prepare people for investment. More than 10 lakh people in Punjab and lakhs in Rajasthan became the target of fraud. CBI investigation revealed that people were prepared to invest through cash down payment and installments.

Along with getting the documents signed, money was collected under the scheme, but they were not given land. The money defrauded from investors was deposited in different bank accounts by Bhangu, his relatives and employees. With this he bought properties at many places in his name. Bhangu died during investigation.

Later, CBI issued warrants against Bhangu's wife Prem Kaur, daughters Barinder, Sukhwinder and son-in-law Gurpratap Singh and associate Prateek Kumar. A total of movable and immovable properties worth Rs 7,589 crore have been attached in the case so far.
