Decreasing expenditure on education and health is injustice to the future of Haryana: MP Selja (file photo)
Jagran correspondent, Sirsa. A recent report has revealed the fact that the per capita expenditure on basic sectors like education and health in Haryana is less than the national average. This situation is worrying, because these two areas are the foundation of human development, social security and future of any state. MP Kumari Selja said this in a statement issued.
MP Selja said that for years the state government has been making tall claims, new medical colleges, better hospitals, modern schools and colleges but the picture appears different at the ground level. Many government hospitals do not have adequate doctors, nursing staff, medicines and testing facilities. Similarly, in many schools and colleges, the posts of teachers and principals are lying vacant for a long time, due to which the education of the students is being affected.
He said that when government systems are weak, common citizens are forced to turn to private institutions, due to which the burden of education and medical care increases on families. This situation creates hardship especially for the rural and economically weaker sections.
MP Selja urged the state government to make a substantial increase in the education and health budget, fill the vacant posts quickly, provide necessary resources to hospitals and educational institutions, and ensure the quality of these services. He also said that what is needed more than announcements is effective implementation and transparency, so that the public can get real benefits.
