Jagran correspondent, Ambala. Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme in Ambala is making families self-reliant in the field of energy. This scheme helps in reducing electricity bills to almost zero, and also benefits the environment.
According to DC Ajay Tomar, sunlight is now not only providing light but is also reducing the expenses of the houses. From city to village, preparations for installing solar panels on rooftops are visible. The two kilowatt system produces 8 to 10 units of electricity daily, which reaches about 300 units in a month. This is the reason why there is hope that the electricity bill will be almost zero for middle class families.
DC Ajay Tomar said that the government has made the scheme so economical that it has become almost free. Subsidy of up to Rs 1.10 lakh is being given to Antyodaya families, Rs 80 thousand to those with income up to Rs 3 lakh and Rs 78 thousand to the higher income group. That means help according to need and capacity, so that no one is left behind.
The special thing is that the path is open for those families who do not have initial investment amount. Loan facility is being provided at minimum interest rates through government banks. With this, installing a solar system has no longer become a dream but a practical option.
