Jagran correspondent, Patna. Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) is playing an important role in making the traffic system in Patna city safe, well organized and disciplined. Under the project of Patna Smart City Limited, the action of automatic challan on vehicles violating traffic rules has been intensified with the help of high-resolution and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras linked to ICCC.
With the beginning of the new year, more than 10 thousand traffic violations have been identified in 12 days through ICCC cameras in different parts of the city.
These include overspeeding, not wearing a helmet, triple riding, driving in the wrong direction, driving without insurance, not wearing seat belt, driving while talking on mobile, violation of traffic signals and parking in no-parking zone. According to statistics, most of the cases are related to riding a bike without a helmet and driving on the wrong side.
Challans are being generated directly after verifying the violations recorded from ICCC cameras. The challan information is being sent to the registered mobile number of the vehicle owner. The entire process is said to be completely digital, transparent and free from human intervention, which has led to strict compliance with the rules.
Special campaign on no-parking
A special campaign is being run against those parking vehicles in no-parking zones. Challan is being issued directly by automatically scanning the vehicle number through ANPR cameras. Where ANPR cameras are not available, challans are being issued based on images captured from ICCC surveillance cameras.
Under this campaign, which has been running since November 28 on the orders of the Municipal Commissioner and Managing Director, about 1600 vehicles have been identified so far.
Real-time monitoring on major roads
Continuous real-time monitoring is being conducted on all major and congested roads of the city including Nehru Path, Boring Road, Kankarbagh, Rajabazar, Fraser Road, Exhibition Road, Patna Junction area and Gandhi Maidan. Its objective is to effectively control illegal parking, reduce traffic jams and ease traffic flow.
Municipal Commissioner-cum-Managing Director of Patna Smart City Limited Yashpal Meena has clarified that violation of traffic rules will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
