Electricity crisis deepens due to dispute between departments in Pangi Valley

State Bureau, Shimla. Due to the ongoing fight between two government departments in the tribal Pangi valley, the local people are facing serious electricity problem. BJP MLA Dr. Janakraj raised this issue during zero hour.

He said that last year, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had laid the foundation stone of the project to establish 33 KV line in Pangi Valley, of which 70 percent work has been completed. But this work remains incomplete due to lack of necessary approvals from the Forest Department.

Apart from this, cooperation is also not being received from the Energy Department officials. Dr. Janakraj demanded action against negligent officials. Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has sought answers from the concerned departments.

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that the four-lane work near Pandoh has been disrupted for the last three years, due to which traffic on the Kandi-Kataula and Pandoh-Chailchowk routes is being affected. Rs 13 crore is being spent on widening of Kandi-Kataula road. If funds are received from the World Bank, expansion of both the roads will be possible. Congress MLA Anuradha Rana described this route as a lifeline for Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti, especially during monsoon.

Congress MLA Hardeep Singh Bawa drew attention to the serious situation of air and water pollution from the API unit in Nalagarh area. He said that people of 25-30 villages here are being forced to migrate. The Speaker of the Assembly directed the officials of the Environment Department and the State Pollution Control Board to submit the action taken report soon.

BJP MLA Trilok Jamwal raised the issue of allowing eligible candidates aged between 21 to 25 years to apply for teacher appointments in CBSE schools. The Speaker of the Assembly directed the officials of the Education Department to take necessary steps.

BJP MLA Randhir Sharma demanded additional provision of Rs 5 crore from Shri Nayana Devi Ji Temple Trust, so that the work of the civil hospital under construction near the temple can be completed. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, citing the court order, said that release of funds will be considered.

Congress MLA Rakesh Kalia mentioned the scam in the fishery center in Gagret area. The Assembly Speaker instructed the police to take further action. BJP MLA Reena Kashyap raised the issue of bridge washing away in Padeli of Gram Panchayat Did-Galuth and directed the Public Works Department to construct the bridge before the arrival of the next monsoon.
