Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. The city residents, especially the elderly, who come for morning walk for health benefits in Sandys Compound, have got a big relief. Under the new system implemented from Saturday, extra time has now been made available for clean air and exercise. On the very first day, more than 400 senior citizens got free entry into Sandys Compound, due to which a lot of enthusiasm was seen among the people.
Earlier, a fee of Rs 10 per person was charged for entry from 8 am to 4 pm. Now keeping in mind the winter season, entry has been made completely free till 9 am, so that more and more people can stroll without paying any fee. This arrangement will remain in force till the month of February, whereas from March the entry time will be changed to 8 in the morning.
The most important change has been made for senior citizens above 60 years of age. People of this age group have been given free entry facility throughout the day. Outsourcing agency Sen and Pandit has implemented this system from Saturday. Elderly people will have to show only Aadhar card or any age proof.
The agency's project director Vishwajit Singh said that on the first day, more than 400 senior citizens got free entry throughout the day. For this, clear instructions have been given to the security personnel posted at the entrance.
At the same time, on the occasion of festivals, as per the agreement with Bhagalpur Smart City, entry fee will be charged from 8 am to 6 pm. During this period, the fee has been doubled to Rs 20 per person. Double fee will be charged on 2nd, 5th and 31st December as well as on 1st January. Whereas on January 26 and August 15, entry into Sandys Compound will be completely free.
