Got Justice After 10 Years! Nalanda's Coaching Student Was Taken To Tamil Nadu And Raped For 15 Days, The Culprit Was Sentenced To 20 Years

District Court's seventh ADJ cum POCSO Special Judge Dhirendra Kumar sentenced Durgesh Sao, a resident of Khudaganj police station, guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl student, under the POCSO Act, along with 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000, failing which he would be given an additional six months' imprisonment.

Apart from this, interim compensation of Rs 4.25 lakh has been provided to the victim under the Compensation Act. Special POCSO PP Sushil Kumar, while arguing with the prosecution on determining the punishment, recommended giving the maximum punishment to the accused. A total of six witnesses were examined during the hearing.

It is known that a charge was registered under the police station based on the statement of the victim's mother, according to which the victim used to go from home every day at seven in the morning to study coaching and returned at four in the evening.

On the day of the incident, on March 28, 2016, while the victim was coming home from coaching in the evening, the accused came on a bike and after threatening to kill her, took her on the bike to Patna, from where he again took her to Tamil Nadu in the evening and after 15 days brought her back and ran away. The police recovered the victim and took her to the police station.

Four years rigorous imprisonment for the person guilty of causing injury.

Third ADJ of the District Court, Ranvijay Kumar, while disposing of the cases pending for 20 years, sentenced Santosh Singh, who was found guilty of injuring him by shooting on February 6, along with four years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000, failing which he was given an additional imprisonment of six months.

Apart from this, under 27 Arms Act, a fine of eight thousand rupees along with three years imprisonment, if not paid, will have to face additional imprisonment of four months. Both sentences will run concurrently.

APP Snehlata Sujal from the prosecution had examined a total of four witnesses during the arguments and hearing on sentencing. On the basis of statement of injured Anil Singh, charges were registered under Noorsarai police station.

According to this, on May 4, 2006, at 5 pm, the victim was returning home when he reached near the village school and saw that a fight was taking place and firing was going on.

As soon as they reached near, the accused started chasing them and in this sequence someone fired a bullet, which hit the victim on the sole of her hand, seriously injuring her.

Other accused in this case, Brij Singh, Dilip Singh, Mauji Singh and Nirohi Singh were released due to lack of evidence. Both the accused and the victim are residents of Baghar village of Noorsarai police station area.
