Cheating through girls sitting in call center (symbolic picture)
Digital Desk, Gwalior. Gwalior Police has exposed a big fake matrimonial gang that cheats people by pretending to dream of marriage. Single youths from across the country were being targeted through matrimonial websites named ‘Unique Rishtey’ and ‘My Partner India’. This entire fraud was going on from two call centers operating in Thatipur area, where the girls sitting on the phone used to talk on the phone and deceive people on the pretext of marriage. So far, it has been revealed that about 1500 youth were cheated, which includes victims from Madhya Pradesh as well as other states.
Police investigation has revealed that the gang used to download pictures of beautiful girls and models from Google, Instagram and Facebook and send them to potential grooms. Registration fees were collected in the name of carrying forward the conversation and sharing the mobile number. The girls working in the call center used to talk to the victims regularly for a few days and then cut off contact with excuses like “cannot think”.
Call center exposed in raid
According to SSP Dharamveer Singh, after receiving the complaint of cheating, the Crime Branch conducted a raid in Mayur Nagar area of Thatipur. Here, a call center was being run on rent in the house of Pitambar Tripathi, which was being operated by Tileshwar alias Dinesh Patel. At the same time, about a kilometer away, another call center was being operated from an apartment flat near Dwarkadhish temple.

During the raid, both the female operators and 17 girls working in the call center were taken into custody and brought to the Crime Branch police station. Police have seized 45 mobile phones, two computers, 50 SIM cards, 12 ATM cards of various banks, passbooks and other documents from the spot. The main kingpin Tileshwar Patel is currently absconding, the search for him is going on.
This is how the fraud was carried out
During interrogation, the accused told that information related to age, income and desired life partner was taken on WhatsApp from the people who registered on the website. After this, photographs of attractive girls were sent. In exchange for sharing the number, an amount ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 20,000 was collected. The same girls working in the call center used to talk, due to which the victims got confidence.

In many cases, the conversations were so credible that the victims would even register again. Investigation also revealed that elderly people became the easiest victims of this fraud. A 58-year-old retired army man was cheated thrice, while a retired professor and doctor also fell into the trap of this gang.
