Jagran correspondent, Farrukhabad. As the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) reaches the final stage, the details of more than 2.5 lakh voters registered in the voter list have become a big concern for the Election Commission. Many logical discrepancies related to age, relationships and family structure have come to light, which are not matching with the general social structure.

Most of the cases are of discrepancy in father's name, where names are not matching in the records of more than 1.38 lakh voters. For these reasons, booth level officers are now engaged in door-to-door verification and in many cases have to contact voters repeatedly to collect documents.

Investigation has revealed that there are a large number of voter records where the age difference between parents and children is less than fifteen years or more than fifty years. In some cases, the age difference between the grandparents and the voter has been found to be less than forty years.

Apart from this, irregularities like registration of names of more than five children in the same family, mismatch of father's name and wrong registration of voter's gender have also come to light. There are instructions from the Commission for special verification of these serious logical discrepancy cases.

According to the data, there are a total of 2,43,169 voters in the district in whose details some kind of logical error has been found. The biggest part of these is the discrepancy in the father's name, where the father's name in the records of 1,38,027 voters does not match with other documents or old records.

Similarly, 19,903 cases from families with more than six children have been identified. An age difference of less than fifteen years between parents and children was found in 59,173 cases, while a difference of more than fifty years was recorded in 12,090 cases. There have been 13,976 cases of age difference between grandparents being less than forty years.

To remove these discrepancies, BLOs are instructed to clarify the situation on the basis of date of birth, relationship with parents and other important documents. Certificates, identity cards and family details are being sought from the concerned voters. If the verification is not completed or the documents submitted are not found satisfactory, action for deletion of name can also be taken in such cases.

Deputy District Election Officer Arun Kumar clarified that the objective of the Commission is to make the voter list clean, transparent and reliable. Voters who have correct documents need not panic. Their name will be safe in the list once the verification is completed.

The administration insists that only correct and fully verified names should be included in the final voter list, so that no further disputes arise.
