Five Teenagers Abscond From Communication Home In Moradabad, Two Caught; Services Of Two Outsourced Workers Terminated

Jagran correspondent, Moradabad. The administration has adopted a tough stance in the case of five teenagers absconding from the Government Juvenile Communication Home located near the Social Welfare Department office.

Police have so far arrested two teenagers, while the search for three is ongoing. All the teenagers were detained in theft cases. At the same time, after preliminary investigation revealed negligence, the services of two outsourced workers have been terminated.

At around 2:55 pm on Sunday night, five teenagers broke the lock of the room, climbed onto the roof, jumped from there and ran away. The absconding teenagers include two from Dhanaura police station area of Amroha, two from ITI police station area of Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand and one from Thakurdwara police station area.

Police have caught both the teenagers of Amroha, while continuous raids are being conducted to search for the remaining three.

In-charge Superintendent Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary has filed a complaint with the police in the matter. According to the complaint, at the time of the incident, class IV employees Sumit Kumar and Rohit, constable Ravindra Kumar and home guards Keshav Kumar, Mahesh Pal Singh and Adesh Kumar were deployed on security duty. Despite this, due to security lapse the teenagers escaped.

As soon as information about the incident was received, the superintendent in charge called 112 and informed the police. After this, the police and communication house staff launched a search operation in the surrounding areas, but initial efforts were not successful. Later, a case was registered and the investigation was intensified, in which two teenagers were recovered.

Administrative investigation revealed that the sanctioned capacity of the communication home is 100 juveniles, whereas at present 101 juveniles are kept here.

It is being told that all the absconding teenagers were brought here in the month of February itself. Keeping more prisoners than their capacity increased the pressure on the surveillance and security system, which led to a situation of negligence.

Taking the matter seriously, a team of three judges inspected the communication house. The team checked security arrangements, staff deployment, CCTV surveillance and registers.

Many flaws came to light during the inspection, instructions have been given to remove them soon. The services of two outsourced workers have been terminated after they were prima facie found guilty of the incident.

Besides, the role of other employees is also being departmentally investigated. If proven guilty, there is a possibility of further action.

SP City Kumar Ranvijay Singh said that raids are being conducted at the possible hideouts of three absconding teenagers. The police of border districts have also been contacted. The administration will further strengthen security arrangements to ensure that such incidents do not happen in future.
