Sangram Singh, Varanasi. The process of installing Flexible Median Marker (FMM) on the National Highway of the state is in the final stages. This experiment is being done for the first time on six highways of Banaras region including Ring Road. This device will prove helpful in guiding vehicles in dense fog. This equipment is being installed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for road safety.

This is a special traffic marker, which is being installed on the median, road divider or curved edge of the roads. It has been installed on some highways of the country, but the use of such a large number of equipment on about 250 kilometers of highway in Purvanchal will definitely reduce road accidents. If a vehicle hits it, it does not break, but returns to its original state after the collision.

It is made of extremely strong and flexible plastic, with fluorescent yellow colored retro-reflective type sheeting on both sides. The minimum reflective area is 285 square millimeters. Reflecting back light from vehicle headlights in rain and fog results in good visibility even from long distances.
