Digital Desk, New Delhi. Severe floods and landslides have caused huge devastation in three provinces of Sumatra island of Indonesia. According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), more than a thousand people have died so far in this disaster, while 218 people are still missing.
The infrastructure here has also suffered extensive damage. About 1200 public facilities have been damaged. इसके अलावा 219 स्वास्थ्य केंद्र, 581 शैक्षणिक संस्थान, 434 धार्मिक स्थल, 290 सरकारी कार्यालय भवन और 145 पुलों को नुकसान हुआ है।
President took stock of the affected areas
Abdul Muhari, head of BNPB's data and information centre, said the figures of the dead were being verified at the sub-district level. The victims are being identified on the basis of name and address by matching them with civil records and this process is still going on in many districts. Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto visited disaster-hit areas of Aceh on Friday to assess the situation.
