Before the assembly elections, the foundation stone of the construction work of the completely dilapidated road from Akharaghat slope to Ahiyapur Chowk via Jiyalal Chowk was laid. After the foundation stone laying ceremony, people who had been hitchhiking on the dilapidated road for a decade had got hope of getting relief from the problem.
People's hopes were dashed as construction work on the dilapidated roads did not begin even three days after the foundation stone was laid. There is resentment among the people against the government and administration. Local people say that if the road is not constructed soon, it will be difficult for a population of 50 thousand people to leave their homes during the rainy season due to waterlogging on the dilapidated road.
Let us tell you that under the Rural Works Department, the completely dilapidated road from the former Akhara Ghat slope to Ahiyapur Chowk via Jiyalal Chowk has been dilapidated for a decade. This is the main route for people from a dozen localities adjacent to the city to reach the city. Also, this is the route for vehicles coming from Darbhanga to reach the city. The road has completely turned into a ditch, due to which traffic is completely disrupted. This route gets completely closed during the rainy season due to water logging.
Local Mahesh Rai told that in October, before the assembly elections, the foundation stone of the road construction was laid with much fanfare by the then Bochahan MLA Amar Paswan under the Rural Road Strengthening and Management Program. The plan amount and the date of foundation stone are mentioned on the stone slab. Amar Paswan was defeated in the assembly elections and Baby Kumar became the MLA. Even after this the road was not built.
Ahiyapur resident Raju Kumar said that after the foundation stone laying ceremony, the sensor dumped gravel on the road and left it there. It was said that the construction of the road would be completed in a month. But three months passed. By dumping gravel on the already dilapidated road, the road has become even more dangerous.
Nazirpur resident Santosh Mishra said that if the road construction work is not completed soon, the local people will be forced to protest. Ballast was laid at various places on the road. People who had been stuck on this dilapidated road for ten years got hope of getting relief from the problem but three months have passed since the elections but no work has been done.
