Letter to name four stations of Delhi Metro after Gurudwara.

PTI, New Delhi. Former MP Tarlochan Singh has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, urging the government to name four metro stations located near major Gurudwaras after those religious places.

In his letter, Tirlochan Singh appreciated the efforts of the Delhi government to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur and highlight the unparalleled sacrifice of the two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh.

Referring to reports of Delhi government taking a decision on naming of metro stations, Tirlochan Singh said it is worth noting that till now no metro station in the capital has been named after Sikh historical Gurudwaras.

According to the letter, the four Gurudwaras mentioned are Gurdwara Sheeshganj near Chandni Chowk, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib on Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Gurdwara Nanak Piyao on Old GT Road and Gurdwara Moti Bagh near Dhaula Kuan Ring Road.

The former Congress MP stressed the historical and tourist importance of these gurudwaras, which attract pilgrims and visitors from all religions, and requested that the metro stations near them be named accordingly.
