Digital libraries will start in 113 villages of UP
Jagran correspondent, Lucknow. After the displeasure of the government, the administration has become active in starting digital libraries in gram panchayats. The government has instructed Lucknow and other districts to set up libraries by March so that students living in villages can also prepare for competitive examinations. More than one thousand digital libraries are to be established in the division including 113 libraries in Lucknow.
In fact, the state government had announced to establish state-of-the-art digital libraries in all the districts. The intention of the government was that due to the presence of a library, the promising boys and girls living in the village would not have to migrate for studies.
Most of the students who have to prepare for competitive examinations go to the city but are unable to bear the burden of studies there. Therefore most of them either come back or stop preparing altogether. Keeping this in mind, the government had decided to open libraries in villages.
The digital library was to be equipped with Wi-Fi, LED screens, CCTV cameras, computer systems as well as purchase of books. The government had set the deadline for starting the library by January 30, but the tender process could not be completed at most places.
The government took action against the DPRO of Lucknow in this matter, after which the officers responsible for starting the library became active. In the last review meeting, Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas had also reprimanded the officers and given instructions to start the library.
