Lover reached Ballia from Siwan after falling in love through Instagram.
Jagran correspondent, Bansdih (Ballia). Love has no limits, but law has its limits. A similar case has come to light in Bansdiharod police station area, where a love story that started on Instagram reached the brink of marriage, but the legal age issue put a break of two days. A young man from Siwan district of Bihar reached his girlfriend's village late on Monday night.
The young man secretly entered his girlfriend's house, but his relatives woke up after hearing a sound. The family members caught the young man red-handed and held him hostage in the house itself.
During interrogation, the young man admitted that he had befriended the girl through Instagram and he had come here from Siwan only after his girlfriend called him. The youth's relatives were informed on Tuesday. After which they also reached Ballia.
The Panchayat went on for hours to resolve the matter and finally the matter reached the police station. When both the parties scrutinized the documents in the presence of the police, an interesting fact came to light.
During the struggle between the police and the relatives, it was revealed that only two days were left for the girl to become an adult. If the marriage had taken place immediately, it would have been considered legally invalid. In view of this, both the parties took a mature decision with mutual consent.
Both the families have decided that after exactly two days, as soon as the girl attains majority, both of them will get a court marriage done as per the law. Only after this decision the matter calmed down and the police heaved a sigh of relief.
This incident remains a topic of discussion in the area. The police have sent both the parties home after instructing them to maintain peace and follow the law.
