In the serious case of luring a minor by befriending her and then raping her, the Additional District and Sessions Judge First cum Special POCSO Court has taken a tough stance and sentenced two culprits. Judge Ghulam Haider's court, while delivering its verdict on Thursday, sentenced one convict to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and the other to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment.
Besides, fine has also been imposed on both of them. In case of non-payment of fine amount, the accused will have to face additional imprisonment.
20 years rigorous imprisonment
The first convict, Neeraj Kumar (23), father Balwant Ram, resident of Naithra, Rewari (Haryana), was found guilty under Section 6 (R/W) of the POCSO Act and sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000. If the fine is not paid, one will have to face additional punishment of one year.
Apart from this, under Section 4(2) of the POCSO Act, he has also been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. In other sections, five years' imprisonment and fine have been imposed under Section 363, seven years under Section 366, one year under Section 506, two years under Section 67 of the IT Act and three years under Section 67(B).

The second convict, Akram Khan, befriended the minor girl by calling her name Mukesh Chaudhary and raped her several times by threatening to make her photo viral. Considering this case as more serious, the court sentenced him to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 under Section 6 (R/W) of the POCSO Act. If the fine is not paid, one will have to face additional punishment of one and a half years.
Under Section 4(2) of the POCSO Act, a punishment of 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 has been given. Apart from this, three years' imprisonment and fine have been imposed under Section 419, three years under Section 67(B) of the IT Act and two years under Section 67. All the sentences of both the convicts will run concurrently.
Fine amount will be given to the victim
The court directed that the fine amount be given to the victim. Besides, an order was also given to provide compensation to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme. In this case, the minor's mother had lodged an FIR in Domchanch police station in the year 2024. The prosecution in the case was conducted by Public Prosecutor Praveen Kumar Singh.
While examining the witnesses, he demanded maximum punishment considering the seriousness of the crime. On behalf of the defence, LADC Naval Kishore presented the side of Akram Khan and LADC Kiran Kumari presented the side of Neeraj Kumar. After examining all the evidence and witnesses, the court declared him guilty and sentenced him.
