Dr. Rakesh Rai, Gorakhpur. The year-long wait for the announcement of new district president in BJP's three districts of Gorakhpur region, Deoria, Siddharthnagar and Gorakhpur, is about to end. The party leadership has intensified the process of brainstorming the names, due to which the turmoil within the organization has also increased. The name is likely to be announced within the week. There are murmurs of this coming from the state leadership.
Due to the pending decision in Deoria and Siddharthnagar, the activism of the claimants continued at the local level. Now that the top leadership has formally started the discussions, discussions have intensified regarding possible names. In Deoria district, maximum number of contenders have come forward for the post of District President.
A total of 67 leaders had nominated here, which is proof of organizational activism in the district. Current District President Bhupendra Singh is also included among the claimants. Apart from them, many senior and active workers including former MLA Kali Prasad, Vijay Patel, Ramashish Prasad, Sanjay Singh Advocate, Prem Aggarwal, Anand Prakash Shahi, Ashok Kumar Pandey, Nirmala Gautam, Santosh Kumar Trigunayat, Jagdish Yadav, Kunj Bihari Singh have submitted their claims.
The number of contenders in Siddharthnagar is relatively less, but here too the contest is considered interesting. Current District President Kanhaiya Paswan is again a strong contender. Apart from them, other names including Rajendra Pandey, Deepak Maurya, Shivnath Chaudhary, Teju Vishwakarma, Pawan Mishra, Vijaykant are in discussion. Organizational work, regional hold and caste-social equation are being considered as the main basis of selection in both the districts.
According to the organizational rules of BJP, no worker is made the district president more than twice consecutively. In such a situation, despite the names of the current district heads being in contention, the leadership is also seriously considering new faces. According to party sources, points like organization expansion, booth empowerment, upcoming election strategy and social representation are being given importance in the selection process.
The situation has been different in Gorakhpur metropolis. Here the post of Metropolitan President is lying vacant after the death of Devesh Srivastava. After his death about seven months ago, to maintain the continuity of organizational work, former metropolitan president Rajesh Gupta was given the responsibility of metropolitan coordinator.

He was given the responsibility of running the organization in the interim, until the new president was announced. Now that the appointment process in all three districts is said to be in the final stages, curiosity about the new leadership within the organization is at its peak.
It is believed that the District President to be announced will play an important role in implementing the upcoming election strategy. Party workers in all three districts also hope that the new leadership will bring new energy to the organization.
