Digital Desk, Maharashtra. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar died when his plane crashed while attempting an emergency landing at Baramati airport on Wednesday morning. Six people including the Deputy CM died in this tragic accident.
Two pilots and two security personnel of Ajit have also been killed in the accident. This accident happened when the chartered plane was trying to make an emergency landing at Baramati Airport. This is not the first such case of death of a big leader in a plane crash, but before this, the country has lost many leaders in plane crashes in the last few years.
Prominent among these leaders are former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, Congress leader and then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's son Sanjay Gandhi, senior Congress leader Madhavrao Scindia and now NCP chief Ajit Pawar who lost their lives in the plane crash. Vijay Rupani- On June 12, 2025, an Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In this accident, 241 people aboard the plane, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani (68), were killed. This plane took off from Ahmedabad to London and crashed after a few minutes. Rupani served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2016 to 2021.

It is noteworthy that Ajit Pawar was going to Baramati to address four public meetings before the Zilla Parishad elections, when the plane (Learjet 45) chartered from Mumbai crashed. In this accident, the entire plane was burnt to ashes, it is seen in the pictures that the plane was completely broken and the debris was scattered all around.
