Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The Crime Branch team of Delhi Police has arrested a member of a gang involved in stealing expensive cars on demand. The accused has been identified as Alok Srivastava of Lakhimpur Kheri, UP. On 17 May 2023, Rohini Court had declared him a fugitive.

The accused used to collect information about accidental vehicles. After this they would convert the stolen vehicles into accidental ones and sell them. After his arrest, the police claimed to have solved seven similar cases. Police have already arrested three members of this gang. The investigation of the case is going on after interrogating the arrested accused.

Used to manipulate the details of accidental cars

According to Deputy Commissioner Harsh Indora, information was received that this gang used to obtain documents of accidental cars and then completely manipulate the details of accidental cars on the stolen car. After this, on the basis of the documents of the accidental car, he used to sell the stolen car in the market at good prices.

During investigation, police came to know that accused Abhay Singh and Alok Srivastava had purchased a stolen Fortuner car from Mohammad Ashraf and Rizwan. He had changed the number plate, engine number and chassis number of the stolen vehicle and prepared new number plate, RC and insurance papers.

Used to commit thefts on demand

During the investigation, accused Abhay Singh, Mohammad Ashraf and Rizwan were already arrested, but Alok Srivastava was absconding. After this, the team arrested the accused after receiving secret information. Abhay and Alok wanted to sell the stolen vehicles to customers at a higher price. During interrogation, the accused told that he used to steal vehicles on demand.
