Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted an interstate drugs syndicate by arresting four drug smugglers. This syndicate used to bring charas from Kullu and its surrounding hilly areas and supply it to small smugglers in Delhi-NCR. 1.698 kg of hashish has been recovered from their possession. By interrogating them, the police is trying to find out about other accused involved in their chain.
According to DCP Vikram Singh, the team of ACP Sunil Srivastava and Inspector Gurmeet Singh, based on information received from informers, first raided a hotel in Paharganj on December 12 and arrested Kundan Lal (Kullu, Himachal Pradesh).
During his search, 1,136 grams of charas was recovered from him. Investigation revealed that he was earlier arrested in a similar NDPS case in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh in 2024. The recovered hashish was for supply in Delhi-NCR.
During his interrogation, we came to know about receivers named Gaurav Verma and Piyush Kumar, residents of East Delhi. After which, on December 13, on the behest of Kundan Lal, Gaurav Verma and Piyush Kumar were arrested.
On the basis of interrogation of Kundan Lal, the police team also arrested Manish Kumar alias Manish Thakur, resident of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. He is an active member of the hashish supply network. During interrogation of all four, it was revealed that these people used to procure charas from the hilly areas around Chhalal and Kullu. Manish Kumar was arrested from Majnu Ka Tila. On searching it, 562 grams of hashish was recovered from the bag.
