Police have arrested seven miscreants including brother-in-law and brother-in-law, who cheated Rs 30 lakh by preparing fake documents of government and prime location land. Police have recovered Rs 7 lakh in cash, fake land documents, three mobile phones and two cars from their possession. There are 40 miscreants in the gang.
SP NP Singh told in the press conference at Police Lines on Wednesday that property dealer Aditya Kumar Singh, resident of Subhash Nagar, Gangotri Kunj, Paniyala Road, Roorkee, had given him an application. It was told that he had received a call on December 6, 2025. The said person had described himself as Sonveer, a resident of Delhi, and had said that his acquaintance Lalaji, a resident of Hapur, had to buy land on the highway side in Shamli.
On December 25, Sonveer had given the number of Ankit Kumar resident of village Kabraut Shamli to Aditya and said that Ankit's land is on the side of the highway. After talking to him, Aditya came to Shamli on January 1, 2026 and talked about the land at Ankit's house in the presence of his relatives and acquaintances. Then Ankit and others told him that he owned one and a half bigha land on Meerut Highway and told them to sell the land at the rate of Rs 1 crore 5 lakh 51 thousand per bigha. After everything was settled, he took Rs 20 lakh as earnest money in Shamli tehsil and gave him the Khasra-Khatauni of the land and gave an affidavit.
Later Sonveer and others stopped answering the phones. When Aditya got the documents of the said land examined, he found out that they were fake. SP said that the Adarsh Mandi police have registered a case against all the accused and after investigating, have arrested seven people of the gang. The accused Rajiv Kalkhande and Ankit Singh are brother-in-law. The accused had also cheated Pramod Kumar, a resident of Nirpuda village of Baghpat, of Rs 10 lakh in the name of getting land. When the victim came to know about the fraud, he died due to shock.
