In return for donation, one will have to take care of the elderly: High Court

A single bench of Chhattisgarh High Court has given its verdict on donations and the responsibility of taking care of the elderly in return for them. Justice NK Vyas said that even though the elderly donor may not have put any condition for taking care of themselves, it is the responsibility of the donor to take care of the elderly couple.

It is necessary to discharge this responsibility. The court canceled the gift deed of the elderly couple who was forced to live in an old age home, ordering them to take back possession of their property.

An elderly couple, residents of Koni, Bilaspur, had given their property to their nephew with the hope that it would support them in their old age, but they were evicted from their own house. Elderly Sureshmani Tiwari complained about this in the Collector Court, where the decision came in his favor. Challenging this order, nephew Ramakrishna had filed a petition in the High Court.
