PTI, Bandavaddipalli. Two software engineers from Andhra Pradesh's Annamayya district died of food getting stuck in their throats after drinking excessive beer. The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Mani Kumar and 27-year-old Pushparaj. Both of them met four of their friends on January 17 and kept drinking beer for several hours.

Rayachoti DSP Krishna Mohan said that all of them bought 19 cans of beer and drank them between 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm, during which time Mani Kumar drank about six cans of beer and Pushparaj drank about five cans of beer.

He told that while returning home, Kumar fainted and started having trouble breathing, after which friends immediately took him to the hospital, where he died, while Pushparaj died around 10 pm.

According to the police, Mani Kumar was already intoxicated by drinking beer and preliminary investigation revealed that he suffered breathing problems due to excessive alcohol consumption and food getting stuck in his throat.
