Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted a big factory manufacturing fake lubricant oil. Police arrested the owner of the company manufacturing fake oil. The arrested accused has been identified as Manish Gupta. Police have recovered from it 10 khaki colored cartons filled with Castrol lubricant oil, fake Castrol, large quantity of lubricant oil machinery and packaging material and fake products worth lakhs of rupees. After interrogating the arrested accused, the police is busy searching for other accused involved in the gang.

A large number of goods were seized

According to Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh, on Thursday, Sub Inspector Ranjit Singh received secret information that some people were filling empty bottles of reputed brands like Castrol, TVS and Hero with local crude lubricant oil, putting fake labels and selling them as genuine products. As soon as the information was received, a team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Ashish Sharma.

The team raided a warehouse located in Kabir Nagar on Thursday. The team seized a large quantity of counterfeit lubricant oil, empty branded containers, machinery, labels and other items used for manufacturing counterfeit goods. Along with this, the main accused Manish Gupta was arrested.

Was running fake oil business for last six years

During interrogation, the accused told that he was manufacturing and selling fake engine oil at the raid site in the name of KBS Lubricant India since 2019. He used to make about 150 liters of oil per day (four to five thousand liters a month) by mixing base oil and additives purchased from Satish Agarwal (Aastha Enterprises) at Mangolpuri Oil Market.

This is how fake engine oil was made

The mixture of base oil and additives was packed in containers with brands like Castrol, TVS and Hero, for which fake logos, batch numbers, holograms, labels and seals were purchased from Raju at Tis Hazari, Gokal Market.

He reused the cleaned old or expired branded containers and sold the fake oil at low prices through transport to retailers in Udaipur, Srinagar and Saharanpur, earning him a profit of around Rs 50,000 every month.

He admitted that he had no license or technical qualifications and that he took precautions such as changing storage locations to avoid detection.
