Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. German Shepherd breed dogs were the center of attraction on the first day of the two-day dog show organized by Doon Valley Kennel Club in Doon. A total of 125 participated in different categories on the first day. The winners were Molly in the nine-month category and Daxie in the six-month category. All of them were from Punjab. Today, on the second day, 400 dogs of different species will participate.
Apart from Dehradun, people from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh arrived at the Police Line grounds since morning with their German Shepherd dogs. Eight foreigners were also included in the total of 125 dogs. Vincenzo Tantera of Australia was in the decider. In which the German Shepherds were awarded points after the competition based on their physical appearance, height and gait.
The dog evening included participants ranging in age from six months to four years. Pratik Garg, President of Devbhoomi Pet Welfare Association, said that the main event will be held today. In which about 400 different breeds of dogs from different states will be included. This would include Labrador, Grey, Golden Retriever, Beagle etc. After the competition, the results of some were released till late evening while the results of all will be declared today.

German dogs enjoying the air of AC and fan. Eight foreign dogs from Serbia also participated in the dog show. Eight dogs were imported from Germany to India some time ago. Some people have bought it in Punjab and some in other states. These dogs are feeling hot even in the cold of Doon, hence fans and AC have been installed for them.
Kapil Kumar from Haryana, who keeps foreign dogs, said that it is necessary to keep them in low temperature. Rajiv Singh from Haryana told that due to the minimum temperature in Germany, these dogs develop the same habit. But there is excessive heat here which has an adverse effect on their health. Therefore they are kept in fans and ACs.
