Proposed international stadium in Rajnagar Extension.
Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. A step forward has been taken by GDA towards the construction of an international cricket stadium. GDA has approved the rough map of the stadium prepared by UPCA (Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association). With this, some obstacles related to stadium construction have been removed. Now UPCA will soon make a formal application to get the map approved.
An important meeting was held on Monday in the GDA auditorium on behalf of UPCA with International Cricket Stadium Coordinator Rakesh Mishra, in which officials from various departments including land acquisition, engineering, planning were present. The planning section reviewed and agreed to the rough draft of the cricket stadium presented by UPCA.
Now application for map approval will be made by UPCA. It is believed that after about ten days, there will be another meeting between GDA and UPCA, in which after final agreement on the map, online application will be made, so that the map can be approved immediately without any objection.
About Rs 450 crore will be spent on construction
The stadium will have a seating capacity of approximately 55 thousand spectators, which can be increased in the future. There will be parking facility for 2510 vehicles in the complex. UPCA has purchased the land for around Rs 70 crore, while the construction is estimated to cost around Rs 450 crore.
After the construction of the stadium, a special plan will also be prepared to ensure that there is no problem of traffic jam in the area. It is noteworthy that the proposal of cricket stadium in Ghaziabad was pending since 2014, but the matter was stuck due to dispute regarding FAR and land use. Now this controversy has also ended after the implementation of the new building bylaws. With this, the hope of Ghaziabad getting a modern international cricket stadium soon has been strengthened.
This international cricket stadium will be built on PPP model on about 31 to 32 acres of land in Morti area of Rajnagar Extension. An MoU will soon be signed between UPCA and GDA regarding this project. Under the new system, GDA can give exemption in land conversion charges and map approval charges, which will provide great relief to the project.
